The Orphanage - (June 24th TIME TBA!) 643 W. 31st St. : Chicago, IL
an art gallery, performance space, coffee shop and underground restaurant all in one! Cost : FREE (donations accepted) Shamanavi & guest synthesist, vav, will be performing an experimental psychedelic electronic set - more details TBA soon! this gig is on a sunday night! The Orphanage is a nonprofit performance space, operating currently on a donation only basis, with a coffeehouse atmosphere fit into an auditorium sized room complete with a stage. The Orphanage is open every Sunday from 7pm - 1am and is located in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood close to multiple means of mass transit (the Red and Orange line) as well as I55 and I90/94. It is currently in it's 3rd year of operation, hosting events that feature original music, both acoustic and amplified in nature, spanning nearly all genres of music as well as DJs, poetry, and a host of other varieties of performance. Throughout the course of the evening guests are encouraged to dine on the consistently amazing food (vegetarian friendly) that is provided, as well as become active participants in the performance line-up by bringing any talents - musical, poetic, or other - to the stage. http://www.shamanavi.com http://onelonetree.org/
