Hello been doing music for aeons it seems but I love it, like many of us here started with minimal equipment you know shoe box comb and paper and one of those cans that goes mooo when you turn it upside down.
Then progressed to a yamaha mt44 4 track, a mono synth and a commodore 64 puter.
We were deluded into thinking that bouncing your 4 track to get the theoretical 10 tracks would work...and............it did ........providing that you were happy with the Ocean of noise added that overwhelmed everything else, apart from that success, Iam almost there, almost famous beyond belief.
Then came 8 track reel to reel, ooo ,the analogue synths, then midi and midi synths, them midi not so analogue synths plus 8 track and smpte units to make it all work, oo we need fx units, lexicons are good but hey alesis are cheap, now we need hard ware, samplers that cost the earth and memory that cost more, and multitimbral synths surely that deal is round the corner.
.............Then it all went wrong -------Powerful computers reduced our hardware overnight to little more than f.....g great big mega exspensive dust collectors worth absolutely f..k all.
But hey we got big shiny computers with reverbs and eq thats getting quite good, virtual synths that convince us that dropping analogues was a mistake, but hey we can run loads of em even if they dont sound the same, and new types of sound creation software that sholud only take a few years to master and oo er my computers melted its cpu both of them!....you need quad core, dual ones and a 10 terrabyte drive(presumabley to store all the bible sized manuals on).
I need beer, beer helps everything except wallet and waist line, dear lord I was young fit and slim with more hair when i started this
But we all love making music, some of my music is very errr good (I Think)! and what started out with a shoe box has been replaced with a silver box with fans in it lol ..............
Malk.
never give up.
